PLUS™ Penne with Spicy Lamb Ragout and Red Wine (Penne PLUS™ con Ragu D’agnello Piccante e Vino Rosso)

Ingredients

1 boxPLUS™ Penne
¼ cupextra virgin olive oil
1 mediumyellow onion, diced
1 poundground lamb
1 teaspoonred pepper flakes
2 cupsred wine
1 sprigrosemary
1 eachbay leaf
½ cupPecorino Romano cheese, grated


ADD oil and onion to a medium skillet over medium-high heat. Add the red pepper flakes and rosemary and sauté for 6 minutes, or until the onions become slightly transparent. Reduce the heat to medium.
ADD the lamb and continue to sauté until browned, about 20 minutes. When the meat is well caramelized add the wine to deglaze the pan. Reduce the wine by half, about 7 ½ minutes.
ADD to the meat mixture 1 ½ cups of water and the bay leaf. Season the sauce with salt and pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer and reduce for 25 minutes over medium-low heat.
Meanwhile, COOK the Barilla PLUS Penne according to the package directions. Drain and toss with the sauce.
STIR in cheese before serving
