8 Martin Sec pears
1 bottle Barolo wine
½ cup sugar
2 cloves

Preparation 15 minutes preparation + 60 minutes cooking

Wash the pears but do not peel or remove stem. Arrange in a deep, wide pan. Sprinkle generously with sugar.

Cover almost completely with wine and add cloves.

Bake in a preheated moderate oven (350° F) for about an hour, until the wine has reduced to a thick syrup.

Serve warm.
