Truffle Season in Piemonte - Intimate Gathering

Setting the Scene

Celebrity Event Planner and President of Francesca Events in New York City, Francesca Abbracciamento helped us to put this intimate gathering for truffle lovers together.  “I first learned of truffles later on in life.  In the summer of 1997, while studying at the French Culinary Institute, I had my initial encounter with the cherished ‘truffles of Alba.’ I recall Chef Robert Shapiro’s speaking of these magical gems with passion.  I was hooked from that moment on.  I learned about the ‘Hunt’ and quickly appreciated this fascinating gift of the earth. <<more>>

Bevande

Begin the night with a glass or two of your favorite prosecco – truffles are reason enough to celebrate!

Begin the meal with a Dolcetto d’Alba 2001 with your antipasti and primi – this dark red has a medium body and pleasant floral notes. Tip: go for earlier vintages – more recent vintages are not suitable for truffles.

Try a Barbera d’Asti Superiore 2000 with the secondi – a dark, dry red with hints of rose.

Finish the meal with a Moscato d’Asti DOCG 2003 with the Apple Tart.
