1997 - Work begins on the construction of “twin” factories in Foggia, Italy and Ames, Iowa. A new generation of ready-made Barilla sauces is launched to the world market.
1998 - Mulino Bianco reaches its highest production volume ever. In America, nine percent of all pasta sold is produced by Barilla. Work begins on the construction of a Barilla factory in Thebes (Greece). Production of “Emiliane Barilla,” a new egg pasta line, begins in Pedrignano.
1999 - Inauguration of Barilla’s “twin” factories in Ames, Iowa and Foggia, Italy. WASA, the European crisp bread leader, becomes part of the Barilla Group. Launch of new filled pasta in the “Emiliane Barilla” line. In America, Barilla overtakes Mueller's as the No. 1 brand of pasta.
2000 - The "Cinderella" television commercial from a new Mulino Bianco campaign wins the prestigious Mobius Advertising Award 2000 in the U.S. for best commercial of the year. A range of new products is launched, from the pasta “Specialità” to “Armonie” breakfast cereals.
