BARILLA CELEBRATES 130 YEARS WITH FOOD BANK FOR NEW YORK CITY
New York City, New York
October 20, 2007
To celebrate our 130 years as a company, 10 years of achievement and our second plant opening in the United States, Guido, Luca and Paolo Barilla hosted a culinary feast at New York City's Cipriani Wall Street. Celebrity Chef Mario Batali partnered with his friends, Chef Paul Bartolotta of Bartolotta Ristorante di Mare and Chef Cesare Casella of Maremma to create a unique Italian gastronomic feast. To give back to the community that has been so good to us, Barilla donated $100 per guest to the Food Bank for New York City. In addition, guests were invited to support the Food Bank For New York City by participating in a luxury raffle. The evening raised $34,620 for this great cause.
GO ORANGE
New York City, New York
October 15-19, 2007
Barilla partners with New York City's Go Orange campaign to raise funds and awareness for hunger relief at an event this weekend to celebrate our company's 130 Year Anniversary. More than two million New Yorkers are at risk of hunger. Food Bank For New York City, the city's primary supplier of food for those who would otherwise go hungry, helps provide more than a quarter million free meals served each day to more than 1,000 emergency and community food programs throughout the five boroughs.
Those in need include women and children, the elderly, people with disabilities and the working poor. For every $1 donation, $0.97 goes toward food acquisition, distribution and programs. In addition to food, the Food Bank offers education and technical support to our network of programs and serves as a research and public policy resource center for legislators, the media and the public.
