Olive Harvest in Tuscany Al Fresco Dinner
Setting the Scene

One of the great thrills of driving through Tuscany is to see the olive trees, beautifully manicured and know, that this artisanal trade is alive and flourishing. Olive Oil is the end result of a craft that has been passed down for over two thousand years, one of love and great pride. On many levels, the making of olive oil has the same principles as wine making - from cultivation, harvesting, hauling, cleaning, storage, pressing, extraction, filtration, bottling, labeling and storage to being identified by regions (Tuscan vs. Sicilian) and by color. So today we celebrate the Tuscan harvest and create a dinner dedicated to learning some facts about the craft My hope is to share some interesting facts for you to entertain your guests with while enjoying a family style dinner whose main ingredient is Olive Oil.

I had my introduction to my first “flight of wine” in NYC, at a restaurant called the Soho Bar and Kitchen. The Flight was simply a series of 6 different small glasses with a taste of regional wines. This experience stayed with me - and I draw off of the concept to create this same kind of interaction with Olive Oil Flight. By utilizing small terracotta ramekins and beautiful bottles you can create a tasting down the center of the table.  The tasting adds to guest interaction and interesting opinions to be shared.” – Francesca Abbracciamento
