We asked the wine experts at Sam’s Wine & Spirits (www.samswine.com) in Chicago, Illinois what to serve with our authentic Tuscan dinner for two.
A romantic dinner for you and your significant other is the perfect time for something bubbly. Prosecco, a soft sparkling wine with floral and fruity qualities, is the choice for this romantic evening. Jenni Heim, an Italian wine expert for Sam’s, suggests Mionetto’s IL Prosecco, a light, dry, fruity sparkling wine.
With dinner, a robust red will complement the Tuscan menu that Chef Lorenzo Boni has prepared for this special occasion. Jenni recommends Borgo Scopeto Chianti Classico Tuscany. It’s a powerful, full-bodied wine, which has good depth and evident new oak character. It tastes of ripe berries, oak, and vanilla - delightful stuff!
For the dolce, dip the cantucci (almond cookies) in a short glass of Vin Santo di Chianti Classico, a traditional Tuscan dessert wine. (Note: Because these wines are often produced in small quantities, Vin Santo typically costs more than $20).
