Girls' Night Out at Fashion Week in Milano

Sleek, chic and utterly urbane, the northern city of Milano is one of the premier fashion capitals on earth; a city where style is not just a business, but part of the fabric of life.  And during its twice yearly fashion shows, this vibrant cultural center—the second largest and wealthiest city in Italy—is transformed into a swirling, bustling playground for the international couture intelligentsia.  <<more>>

Setting the Scene

Celebrity Event Planner and President of Francesca Events in New York, Francesca Abbracciamento, helped us to put this fun cocktail party together for your favorite girlfriends.  Francesca shares with us, “Fashion week occurs twice a year, during this time, the runways are alive with next season’s most coveted wares. Having my share of producing New York shows during Fashion Week, I know that it comes down to a few very simple details: great clothes, amazing music, perfect lighting, unique drinks – all paired with tasty bites and style that comes in many different colors.  All of the above, working together, create an energy that is unparalleled. <<<more>>>

Bevande

This get together for your best friends begs for fun “girly” drinks to set the mood.  Francesca has created two fun drinks inspired by Fashion Week in Milan: The Stiletto and Red "Corset" Tini. She suggests to, “serve up two well-thought out specialty drinks in clear glass pitchers and surround them by assorted glasses on a tray and your guests will help themselves to bevande all night. Mix these drinks in larger jugs ahead of time and keep them in the refrigerator – it makes it easy to replenish.”

If you prefer wines, we recommend a dry spumante, like
Franciacorta DOCG Brut.  This one is made with Chardonnay grapes from Garda Lake.

If you prefer a non-bubbly wine, try a smooth dry white like
Soave Classico Superiore DOCG 2003.  This varietal is made from Garganega grapes and has hints of lemon, pear and white peaches.

Both wine options are great for light courses like appetizers.

Have sparkling and still water on hand as an alternative.
